Blarney

Jen & I headed off to see the Blarney Castle & surrounding area today. Again, she managed to bring the sun to Ireland! The morning was very misty, which added a certain air of mystery to our arrival at the castle, but the afternoon was bright and clear and warm.

We began by climbing to the top of the castle for Jen to kiss the Blarney Stone. Unfortunately the tour buses had started to arrive and we were stuck waiting in a mob of teenagers. When it was Jen's turn she kissed that stone with vigour! Then we headed back down and explored the grounds around the castle. It is gorgeous there. In particular, the Rock Close feels like paradise.

Next we went to the Blarney Woolen Mills. I've never seen so many things made of wool in my life. A lot of the big sweaters really smell like sheep, too!
